For Dr. Wayne Newhauser, 3D scanners aren’t just for motion picture or textile industries. He believes they can also be used in the next step of breast cancer research.
No two female bodies are created the same, which is why Newhauser believes 3D technologies are a technological breakthrough in specializing care to the individual patient and their body. The scanners and printers are used to create individualized models that allow professionals the opportunity to conduct personalized treatment plans.
Newhauser currently serves as the director of LSU’s medical physics program. He spends his time working with up-and-coming researchers within the medical field, as well as advocating for the importance of STEM research.
