Words can pack a punch... trust us, we’ve watched the internationally-acclaimed slam poetry champion Chancelier “Xero” Skidmore live and in action.

As a slam poet and educator, Skidmore has learned to craft his words into art and teach others how to deliver an impactful performance. Hitting on recurring themes like, his family, his upbringing, the community, social justice issues, and more, all Skidmore’s performances come back to the main theme of telling the truth and evoking change.

In his 2017 TEDxLSU talk, Skidmore focuses on the relationship between art and change and what an artist’s role is in bringing about change. Whether responding to or facilitating that change, art has a voice in the pursuit of progress.

Watch Chancelier “Xero” Skidmore’s 2017 TEDxLSU talk below.
